UK Trade and Investment is the official UK government body responsible for trade and export promotion. Identifying the benefits that could be
gained from a regional trade portal UK Trade and Investment worked with EMNET to develop one of the first regional trade websites in the UK.
The portal has helped the regional UKTI unit to provide additional specialist and regionally focused support for exporters in the East Midlands at much lower cost than traditional mail shots, adverts and large print runs.
The regional portal has been built to mirror national branding and integrate with both national and local export support services. The tool has also supported the activities of the regional Business Link export advisor teams.
In a recent national evaluation the East Midlands trade portal was cited as the leading example of regional trade portal sites in the UK.

Website Link: http://www.nottinghamrestaurantawards.co.uk
Big Table public relations, the creators and organisers of the Nottingham Restaurant Awards, approached EMNET to build a website that would not only help to promote the Awards but would enable people to vote on-line.
The site provides a central hub through which Big Table are able to manage their communications with the press, participating restaurants and the voting public. The website has full content management facilities and enables any member of staff to upload text, pictures and data in a range of formats as well as being able to download the latest voting results.
By utilising electronic voting Big Table were able to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
"The website was key to the success of the Awards...the site was so easy to administer allowing us to concentrate on organising the Awards"
Jocelyn Platt (Co-Director, Big Table PR)
